Sami studied Chemistry and Chemical Technology at Al-QudsUniversity in Palestine, where he earned his MSc in Applied Industrial Technology. He worked as teacher assistant in the Chemistry labs and then he joined the Nanotechnology Research Laboratory at Al-Quds University for three years as a researcher. In his master work, he synthesized polymer metal complexes for thermal and electronic applications. In 2010, DAAD awarded him a PhD scholarship to join Dr. Mark Rümmeli group and start his project on Nanographene Oxide as a platform for Biological Applications at Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research, Dresden, Germany.
