Jorge studied mechanical engineering as well as electronic engineering at the Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. His interest in nanomaterials was sparked back then by his tutor, Dr. Alba Avila, with whom he worked on piezoelectric materials and Piezo-Force Microscopy. Jorge is now finishing his Master's degree in nanotechnology in a joint programme from K.U. Leuven and T.U. Dresden. His thesis, supervised by Dr. Francesca Moresco, is about the manipulation of single molecules with low-temperature STM.
