Jinbo Pang earned a master’s degree from Nankai University, Tianjin, in 2011 and studied Physical Chemistry at the University of Wuerzburg (01.09.2011-30.03.2013), moved to Dresden, and joined our group as a PhD student. He focused on chemical vapor deposition of low-dimensional nanostructures. He completed his doctorate in materials science, focusing on thermal deposition approaches for graphene growth, at Technische Universität Dresden (Germany) in March 2017. After his study of two-dimensional materials transition metal dichalcogenides in IFW Dresden as a post doctorate, he joined Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research (iAIR), University of Jinan, China as an assistant professor (in 2018) and associate professor (promoted in 2022), where he directed his research to wafer-scale controlled growth of two-dimensional materials and their electronic and optoelectronic device applications. This led to the award of the Natural Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars of Shandong Province. He was awarded the First Prize of the Invention, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Award by the China Association of Inventions (CAI) in 2023 (2nd place out of 6), and the Jilin Provincial Natural Science 2nd Prize (3rd place out of 3). Dr. Pang served as a member of Youth Editorial Board of several high-impact journals such as InfoMat (Wiley), eScience (Elsevier), Nano-Micro Lett (Springer), Exploration (Wiley), Research (AAAS), Nano Research (Tsinghua Press), Instrumentation (China Instrument & Control Society), Tungsten (Springer), Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry (Elsevier), Brain-X (Wiley), and Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering (Springer). He has served in the organizing and academic committees of several conferences. He has published over 90 journal papers with a total of 8303 citations and an h-index of 47 (updated on Feb 9, 2026). He also works with companies to promote the production of wafer-scale high-quality 2D TMDC films and beyond.
