International conference on Quantum Transport, 2005

Cover
Start: 03 Jul 2005 | End: 05 Jul 2005
Location: Bologna, Italy
Organized by: C. Taliani, Y. W. Park, S. Roth

The international workshop on the Quantum Transport in Synthetic Metals (QTSM) started in Seoul 1999. It was organized as an annual report meeting of the multinational cooperation project (MCP) on the "QTSM" supported by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Korea. A number of the world wide experts have been invited each year and deliver lectures on the related topics together in the workshop. From the year 2001, the Quantum-Functional Semiconductor Research Center (QSRC) in Dongguk University (DGU) has joined to co-organize the workshop and the QTSM has been renamed as QTSM & QFS. The topics were concentrated on the molecular level nanostructures and quantum-functional semiconductor devices together with high temperature superconductors and manganites. In 2004 it was suggested that in future the meeting should alternate between Korean and European sites. Following this idea the QT 2005 conference will be held in Bologna, Italy from 3 to 5 July 2005, and its main scope is to promote the further evolution of the Workshop into a conference on Quantum Transport in mesoscopic systems in general. This conferences should put the basis for the creation of a community of scientists working on different aspects of quantum transport and to provide the possibility of regular annual meetings for discussions and presentations.
